⚡ Nutritionist for Fatigue & Low Energy — NZ

Tired of being tired? There’s usually a reason.

Persistent low energy isn’t just part of being busy. It’s often a signal that something in your body needs support — and nutrition is one of the most powerful places to start looking.

Sound familiar?

Low energy that doesn’t make sense

You’re sleeping. You’re eating. You’re not doing anything obviously wrong — but you’re still exhausted. That disconnect is exactly what’s worth exploring. Here’s what many people experience before they find out what’s actually going on:

😴

Waking up tired even after a full night’s sleep

📉

Energy that crashes mid-morning or after lunch — every single day

Relying on coffee or sugar just to get through the day

🧠

Brain fog — slow thinking, poor focus, forgetting things

🏃

Exercise feeling harder than it should, or taking much longer to recover

😠

Irritability or low mood that seems tied to how you feel physically

🍽️

Appetite changes — either not hungry, or constantly craving quick energy

🩺

GP has ruled out anything serious, but you still don’t feel right

Morning

Groggy start

Hit snooze twice. Coffee before anything else.

Mid-morning

Brief window

Functioning, but not sharp. Second coffee already.

After lunch

The crash

Can barely keep eyes open. Energy disappears.

Evening

Second wind

Finally feel more awake — but it’s too late to be useful.

If this pattern sounds familiar, it’s not just tiredness — it’s a rhythm that can be investigated and changed. In most cases, there’s a nutritional or metabolic thread running through it.

The root causes

Why you might be low on energy — and what we look at

Fatigue rarely has a single cause. More often it’s a combination of factors that compound each other — and nutrition sits at the centre of most of them. These are the areas I explore in every energy-focused consultation.

01

Blood sugar dysregulation

Unstable blood sugar is one of the most common and most overlooked causes of energy crashes. When blood glucose spikes and then drops sharply, your body reads it as a stress event — and energy pays the price. What you eat, when you eat it, and in what combination all matter here.

02

Nutrient deficiencies

Iron, B12, vitamin D, magnesium, and zinc are among the nutrients most directly involved in energy production. Even a mild deficiency in any one of these can leave you running at well below your best — and standard GP panels don’t always catch the full picture.

03

Gut health & nutrient absorption

You can eat a nutrient-dense diet and still run low if your gut isn’t absorbing well. Gut inflammation, poor microbiome diversity, and digestive dysfunction all affect how much you actually get from your food.

04

Stress & cortisol load

Chronic stress is one of the most energy-draining states a body can be in. Elevated cortisol disrupts sleep, depletes key nutrients, impairs digestion, and keeps your nervous system in a low-grade state of alert — none of which leaves much over for actual living.

05

Sleep quality (not just quantity)

Eight hours of broken or shallow sleep won’t restore you. Nutrition affects sleep quality in ways most people don’t realise — from blood sugar stability overnight to the nutrients needed to produce melatonin and manage your sleep cycle.

06

Under-fuelling or poor timing

Eating too little, skipping meals, or eating the wrong things at the wrong times can all suppress energy — even when total calories look fine on paper. Particularly common in people who are active, busy, or trying to lose weight.

Is this right for you?

Who I work with

Energy and fatigue issues show up differently for different people — but the underlying nutritional and metabolic threads are often similar. This tends to be a good fit if you are:

Experiencing persistent low energy or fatigue that your GP hasn’t been able to fully explain or resolve
Noticing regular afternoon crashes, brain fog, or an inability to sustain concentration through the day
Relying heavily on caffeine, sugar, or stimulants to get through — and wanting to change that
Active or athletic and finding your energy, recovery, or performance has declined without an obvious reason
Feeling like stress, poor sleep, and low energy are all feeding into each other — and wanting to break the cycle
Eating what you think is a healthy diet, but still not feeling the energy that should come with it

A note: If you’re experiencing severe or debilitating fatigue, it’s important to work with your GP first to rule out underlying medical causes. Nutritional support works best alongside — not instead of — appropriate medical care.

What to expect

What working with me looks like

Energy issues tend to have multiple threads. Rather than guessing, we investigate — and then address what we find in a practical, layered way.

1

Free 15-minute discovery call

We talk through what’s been going on — how long, what you’ve already tried, any patterns you’ve noticed. A good starting point to see if working together makes sense.

2

In-depth initial consultation

We go deep into your diet, lifestyle, stress, sleep, any recent blood work, and the specific ways your energy is suffering. I look for the patterns and connections that point toward root causes — and put together a clear, prioritised plan.

3

Ongoing support and refinement

Energy levels shift gradually — and what works in week two might need adjusting by week six. We stay in regular contact to track progress, troubleshoot, and keep building on what’s working.

Luke spent time and energy getting to know me and my unique situation. He had a beautifully eloquent way of explaining some of the science behind what I was experiencing — which was equally validating as it was motivating. He then came up with a personalised nutrition plan tailored to my specific needs. The results were clear within as little as a couple of weeks.
