Homemade Electrolyte Drink
This homemade electrolyte drink provides essential electrolytes like sodium and potassium, natural carbohydrates for energy, and a refreshing taste. Enjoy it before, during, or after your workout to stay hydrated.
Ingredients
- 1 litre of water about 4.25 cups
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt I like to use a salt that has a mixture of sodium, potassium and magnesium but normal salt is fine
- Juice of half a lemon for vitamin C, potassium and flavour
- 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup this provides carbohydrates that are important for for making an isotonic beverage that will hydrate optimally
Instructions
- Pour 1 litre of water into a large jug or pitcher.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the water.
- Mix in the lemon juice.
- Add 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup.
- Stir well until all the ingredients are fully dissolved.
- Chill in the refrigerator or add ice cubes for a refreshing drink.
